Short answer: The cheapest eSIM for Czechia is £1.49 for 1 GB over 7 days. 6 plans run up to 20 GB at £13.99, and the best value per gigabyte is £0.70. All of them roam onto O2 and Vodafone.

Most visitors to Czechia go to Prague, stay in Prague, and need very little data to do it — the historic centre is walkable and the public transport is simple. The plans below are cheap enough that this is barely a decision. Where it gets more interesting is the trip beyond the city.

Prague, then Bohemia and Moravia

Prague has dense coverage including most of the metro, and the two networks we use cover the city thoroughly. Brno, Ostrava, Plzeň and the intercity rail corridors are solid.

The countryside is patchier but rarely absent — this is not a country with wilderness-scale gaps. Český Krumlov, Kutná Hora, the spa towns and the castle circuit are all covered. Where it thins is the Šumava forest along the German and Austrian borders, the Jeseníky and Krkonoše mountains, and the smaller roads through the Bohemian interior where you may drop to a slower connection rather than lose it altogether.

For most itineraries the practical answer is that coverage is a non-issue and the only real question is how much data you need, not whether you will be able to use it.

Coverage in short: Prague and the main routes are well covered; Bohemian and Moravian countryside is patchier but rarely absent.

£1.49 is the entry price rather than the best value. At £1.49 per gigabyte it is the most expensive data on the list; the 20 GB plan at £13.99 is £0.70 per gigabyte. If there is any realistic chance you will use more than 1 GB, the larger plan costs less than buying the small one twice.

Roaming, and whether you need this at all

Czechia is in the EU, so EU and EEA SIMs roam at home rates. Czechia is not in the eurozone and uses the koruna, which has nothing to do with your data but does mean the prices below in sterling are the relevant ones rather than anything you see quoted locally.

The public transport apps are the data use

Prague's transport system is genuinely good and genuinely worth using, and the ticketing and journey-planning apps are where a short Czech trip actually spends its data. That is a small, steady load rather than a large one.

If you are day-tripping out of Prague by train, the one thing worth doing before you leave the apartment is checking the return times, because Czech regional services are less frequent than the city network and the gap between a missed connection and the next one can be substantial.

The networks you actually connect to

In Czechia our plans roam onto O2 (5G), Vodafone (5G). That is worth stating plainly because it is the thing that determines your experience: a travel eSIM does not have its own masts, so your signal is whatever those operators have built, and 5G is available where they have deployed it and your handset supports it.

It also means no provider can sell you better coverage in Czechia than the local networks have. Where there is a gap, it is a gap for everyone — local customers included.

Before you buy

Check the handset takes an eSIM and is not carrier-locked. Dial *#06# and look for an EID alongside the IMEI — no EID means no eSIM hardware whatever the model name suggests, and a locked phone will install the profile and then refuse to register. The device compatibility guide lists what works.

Then install before you fly, while you still have reliable Wi-Fi. Setup by brand: iPhone or Android. If it will not connect after you land, this works through the causes in order.

For how Czechia compares with the rest of what we sell, see what travel eSIMs actually cost, or how much data you actually need if the size is the part you are unsure about.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, across most of the network. Prague has dense urban coverage and the metro is included, so journey planning and messaging work underground in a way they do not in every European capital.
Very little. The historic centre is walkable, the transport apps are light, and most visitors spend their data on maps, timetables and messaging. The entry plan below is usually sufficient unless you intend to stream video.
£1.49 for 1 GB over 7 days — the lowest of the 6 Czechia plans we sell. The best value per gigabyte is the 20 GB plan at £13.99, which works out at £0.70 per gigabyte.
O2 (5G), Vodafone (5G). These are the commercial networks local customers use, not a separate visitor band, so your coverage is theirs. 5G is available where the network has deployed it and your handset supports it.
