What a global plan is actually for
It is the most expensive way to buy data per gigabyte and the cheapest way to buy certainty. If your itinerary is London, Dubai, Singapore and Sydney, you could buy four country plans and swap between them, or buy one global plan and never open the settings again. The second costs more and takes less of your attention.
Where it stops making sense is a trip that sits inside one region. If everywhere you are going is in Europe, or everywhere is in Southeast Asia, the regional plan covers the same ground for a fraction of the price.
Read the country list before you buy
"Global" is a marketing word everywhere in this industry and no plan from anyone covers every country on earth. The two bundles below cover different lists at different prices, and the full lists are printed in full rather than summarised. Check your actual destinations against them — particularly if your route includes anywhere in Central Asia, the Caucasus or the Pacific, which are the usual gaps.
Regional plan or country plan?
A global plan is the right purchase when your route crosses regions. Inside a single region it is poor value — the regional plan covers the same countries for much less.
The arithmetic is simple enough to do yourself: add up what the individual country plans would cost for the countries you are actually visiting, and compare. Our full price list has every country we sell, and local or regional eSIM works through the trade-off in more detail.
Before you buy
Check the handset takes an eSIM and is not carrier-locked — dial *#06# and look for an EID beside the IMEI. No EID means no eSIM hardware, and a locked phone will install the profile then refuse to register. The device compatibility guide lists what works.
Install before you fly, while you still have reliable Wi-Fi: iPhone or Android. If it will not connect after you land, this works through the causes in order.
