Denmark is one of the easiest countries in Europe to stay connected in. It is flat, compact, densely populated and comprehensively covered, including the bridges and the ferry routes that tie its islands together. The question here is almost entirely about how much data you need rather than where it will work.
Comprehensive, bridges included
Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg are densely covered. So is the motorway network, and — unusually — so are the great bridges. The Storebælt crossing between Zealand and Funen and the Øresund bridge toward Sweden both hold a signal across their length, which is not something you can assume on long spans elsewhere.
The islands are the part people ask about. Bornholm, Møn, Ærø and the smaller inhabited islands have real coverage rather than token coverage, and the short ferry crossings between them are brief enough that any gap barely registers.
There is no Danish equivalent of the Norwegian fjord dead zone or the Icelandic interior. If you lose signal in Denmark it is a local fault rather than a geographical inevitability.

£1.49 is the entry price rather than the best value. At £1.49 per gigabyte it is the most expensive data on the list; the 20 GB plan at £11.99 is £0.60 per gigabyte. If there is any realistic chance you will use more than 1 GB, the larger plan costs less than buying the small one twice.
Roaming, and whether you need this at all
Denmark is in the EU, so EU and EEA SIMs roam at home rates here. Note that Greenland and the Faroe Islands are part of the Kingdom of Denmark but are not in the EU and are not covered by a Denmark plan — they are separate network areas and need their own arrangements.
Cycling navigation is the real data use
Copenhagen is a cycling city and a great many visitors hire a bike, which changes how the phone gets used. Cycling navigation means the screen is on and the GPS is running for long stretches, and it is harder to glance at a map and put the phone away than it is on foot.
That is a battery problem more than a data problem — GPS itself uses no data, and a downloaded offline map removes most of the rest. But it is the reason a Danish city trip can burn through more than a walking trip of the same length, and it is worth a plan one size up if cycling is the plan.
The networks you actually connect to
In Denmark our plans roam onto TDC (5G), 3 (5G). That is worth stating plainly because it is the thing that determines your experience: a travel eSIM does not have its own masts, so your signal is whatever those operators have built, and 5G is available where they have deployed it and your handset supports it.
It also means no provider can sell you better coverage in Denmark than the local networks have. Where there is a gap, it is a gap for everyone — local customers included.
Before you buy
Check the handset takes an eSIM and is not carrier-locked. Dial *#06# and look for an EID alongside the IMEI — no EID means no eSIM hardware whatever the model name suggests, and a locked phone will install the profile and then refuse to register. The device compatibility guide lists what works.
Then install before you fly, while you still have reliable Wi-Fi. Setup by brand: iPhone or Android. If it will not connect after you land, this works through the causes in order.
