Latin American itineraries are long and cross several countries — Peru and Bolivia, or a run down the Andes, or Brazil and Argentina either side of the falls. Buying country by country over a two-month trip gets expensive fast.

Two bundles, very different reach
The smaller one covers the main South American countries most travellers actually route through. The larger adds Central America and several Caribbean territories, which makes it the right choice for a trip that works its way north rather than staying in the south.
The country lists are printed in full below. Read them — Latin America is one of the regions where bundle names tell you least about what is actually inside.
What to expect on the ground
The major cities — Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Santiago, Lima, Bogotá — are well covered. The Andes are not, and nor is the Amazon basin, the Atacama, Patagonia away from the towns, or the Bolivian altiplano. These are among the emptiest places on the network map anywhere, and the long-distance bus routes that connect them spend hours out of range.
Download the offline map for the whole route rather than the day's leg. The point at which you want to change plans is rarely the point at which you have signal to do it.
Regional plan or country plan?
Worth it from two countries upward, and strongly worth it on a long overland trip. A fortnight in Brazil alone is better served by the country plan.
The arithmetic is simple enough to do yourself: add up what the individual country plans would cost for the countries you are actually visiting, and compare. Our full price list has every country we sell, and local or regional eSIM works through the trade-off in more detail.
Before you buy
Check the handset takes an eSIM and is not carrier-locked — dial *#06# and look for an EID beside the IMEI. No EID means no eSIM hardware, and a locked phone will install the profile then refuse to register. The device compatibility guide lists what works.
Install before you fly, while you still have reliable Wi-Fi: iPhone or Android. If it will not connect after you land, this works through the causes in order.
